Left Behind

I only wanted to wait a moment
But it seems like life just passed by
Left me behind to count the time
Ticking seconds on my wrist
Matches the pulse that drives the fist

The familiar scenes seem cold now
I've seen them all my life
But they don't belong here somehow

I move through these actions because it's all that I know
Just waiting for a change
Waiting for the show

I've known since I was old enough to realize
The  past is only what you make of it
And when it repeats itself
It's only what you take of it

Looking back never solves anything
Just a reminder of what you have lost
What you never had the chance to gain
Just a reminder of all you'll never have
All of the sweet pain

I'm left wondering which step was wrong
How it brought me to the place I didn't belong
Loved by people that don't love the real me
Accepted by people that only know what I'm pretending
Wanted by people that don't know the truth
Hated by people when I had to choose.

I only wanted to take a breath
Close my eyes and recollect
But I lost the chance when I lost the way
I lost the meaning to the words I say.
